Part of a 'Programming Partnership" between my company Uptown Jazz Dallas and Klyde Warren Park, I was charged with creating a jazz series that the Park could present annually as part of an ongoing music series. Under the Uptown Jazz Dallas banner, Live on the Lawn would be positioned as the premiere jazz stage in North Texas. For the Park it would serve as a way to fulfill it's mission of being a central gathering place in the City of Dallas.
Uptown Jazz Dallas Live on the Lawn at Klyde Warren Park was fortunate to have a long-time jazz sponsor of Jazz, Chase Bank to join the partnership as 'Presening Sponsor". Chase had, up to that point, been the sponsor of the long running Jazz Under the Stars across the street at the Dallas Museum of Art. That successful series was presented for 29 years. Live on the Lawn now assumes a role of the premiere jazz series of our Festival organization and the Park. Under the Artistic Direction of Uptown Jazz Dallas the Series will showcase the region's best recording artists, along with national and international recording artists.
